Setting an Elegant Table with White & Silver for Christmas

Serving Christmas dinner is a time-honored tradition in many homes. If you're hosting Christmas dinner, set an elegant table on which to serve this holiday meal. Choose a white and silver color scheme for your Christmas table to create an eye-catching tablescape that welcomes family and friends to sit and dine. Cover the table with a white floor length tablecloth. Choose a matte white tablecloth made of cotton or polyester, or use a white satin tablecloth for a shiny effect.

Lay a silver runner across the center of the table. Use a runner that stops before the edges or one that spans the entire length of the table and extends down to the floor.

Fill clear glass vases of various sizes and shapes with silver Christmas ornaments. Set the vases out along the top of the runner so that the taller vases are toward the center of the table and the shorter vases are near the ends. Between each of the vases, place a white tea light.

Set a silver charger plate at each of the seats. Top the charger plates with plain white porcelain dishes, or use white porcelain dishes that have silver decorative accents, such as silver edges or silver dots.

Place a silver fork to the left side of each dish and a silver knife and spoon to the right side of each plate.

Put silver and white napkins on the plates at each setting. Arrange the napkins in an alternating pattern: white, silver, white, silver. Drape the napkins on the plates or set them in silver napkin rings and lay them on top of the plates.
