Sushi isnt just a cuisine; its an art form. With intricate rolls of vibrantly-colored fish and vegetables, the presentation is just as important as the taste. Whether youre attempting to make your own food or plan on ordering from an experienced restaurant, hosting a sushi bar party is a sophisticated event. Impress your party guests and set the dining table in authentic Japanese style. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
- 1
Cover the table with a tablecloth in a color such as black, red or gold, which are common in Japanese decorations. Avoid a patterned table cloth, which will distract from the presentation of the sushi when served.
2Place a few simple centerpiece items in the middle of the table, leaving room for the serving plates of sushi. For example, place a bamboo table runner down the center and put a monochrome ceramic vase with a single flower, like an orchid, on each end.
3Put Japanese place settings for each diner around the table. Place the chopsticks in the very front of the dining chair with the points facing left, slightly elevated by a chopstick holder. Put a round bowl for soup on the right side above the chopsticks. Arrange the flat plates for sushi, soy sauce and side items in an aesthetically pleasing position above the soup bowl.
