How to Decorate a Ping-Pong Room

How to Decorate a Ping-Pong Room

Ping-Pong is a registered trademark for a popular brand of table-tennis equipment. Decorate your Ping-Pong room to set the mood for fun, playful games or heavy competition depending on your preference. How you choose to color the room and what you display around your Ping-Pong table will make all the difference. While virtually any room can be decorated in a day, you'll want to take your time planning the room before you begin so you know exactly what you want to see in your finished Ping-Pong room. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Select a color to paint or wallpaper the room in, using light, playful colors like white, yellow, light blue or mint green for a lighthearted style of game or use deep green, red or navy blue to encourage a more competitive environment.

    2

Place your Ping-Pong table in the room where you'll have at least 3 feet of space on each side of the table and 5 to 6 feet of open space on the ends.

    3

Suspend lighting over the table provided it doesn't hang low or it may get hit with the Ping-Pong ball and/or block visibility. Place floor lamps in the corners of the room and out of the way of swinging paddles to provide light if a ceiling light isn't an option.

    4

Place upholstered chairs or a love seat in the room well out of the way of your table's play space needs to give spectators and friends awaiting a turn a place to sit. For a relaxed atmosphere set out bean-bag chairs instead of sturdy furniture, and stack them a corner for storage.

    5

Hang valances or short curtains along any windows in the room to block out sunlight which might get into a player's eyes. Use colors for the window dressing that coordinate with your walls.

    6

Mount a chalkboard, rewriteable marker board or scoreboard to the wall near the center line of the Ping-Pong table to keep track of points and provide a leader board for the current best player.

    8

Incorporate other items on a bookshelf or in a cabinet that you want to have in the room such as a CD player, extra paddles, balls and bottles of water.
